PROCEEDINGS OF 2010 IEEE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON AUTOMATION, QUALITY AND TESTING, ROBOTICS (AQTR 2010), VOLS. 1-3

Abstract
The project XPRESS introduces a completely new scalable concept of an expertonic networked factory, which is composed by a co-ordinated team of specialized autonomous objects (expertons), each knowing how to do a certain process optimally. This paper looks in particular to the transport experton implementation, which is an experton responsible to carry material at the shop-floor. It is suggested an architecture based in a multi-agent approach that uses a conveyor belt transport experton to perform this task. Additionally, it is presented an implementation of the conveyor belt transport experton that uses the. NET framework integrated with the expertonic framework.

FOURTH EUROPEAN WORKSHOP ON OPTICAL FIBRE SENSORS

Abstract
In this work an all optical hot-wire flowmeter based on a silver coated fibre incorporating a long period grating and a Bragg grating is demonstrated. Optical energy at 1480 nm propagating down the fibre is coupled by the long period grating into the fibre cladding and absorbed by the metallic coating deposited on the fibre surface over the Bragg grating position. This absorption acts like a hot-wire raising locally the fibre temperature, which is effectively detected by the FBG resonance shift. The temperature raise depends on the flow speed of the surrounding air that has the effect to cool the fibre. In this way, the FBG Bragg wavelength shift can be related with the flow speed. Results obtained demonstrate the working principle and a flow speed resolution of 0.08 m/s is demonstrated.

Abstract
It is reported a new dynamic electrical interrogation technique based on the modulation of two Bragg gratings structures located in the readout unit that permits to attenuate the effect of the 1/f noise of the electronics in the resolution of the LPG-based curvature sensors. The new concept is tested to detect large variations of curvature being achieved a resolution of 6.56 × 10-3 meters.

Abstract
The project XPRESS introduces a completely new scalable concept of an expertonic networked factory, which is composed by a coordinated team of specialized autonomous entities (intelligent production units), each knowing how to do a certain process optimally. This paper looks in particular to the transport intelligent unit implementation, which is responsible for the transportation of components at the shop-floor. An architecture based in a multi-agent approach that uses automatic guided vehicle expertons to perform this task is suggested. Additionally, it is presented an implementation of the automatic guided vehicle transport intelligent unit that uses the. NET framework integrated with the expertonic framework.
