INESC TEC’s project helps the elderly to take medicines

The prototype of a robotic system that helps the elderly to take medicines was one of the results of the collaboration between INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) and the Superior School of Health of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), which took place under the NIE project - Natural Interfaces for the Elderly.

INESC TEC researcher elected for the Committee on Foundations of Computer Science

On 24 January, Luís Soares Barbosa, researcher of INESC TEC’s High-Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) and Professor at the University of Minho and at the United Nations University, was elected Chair of the Technical Committee 1 - Foundations of Computer Science (IFIP TC1), an international committee that aims at the development of the theory and computer science and of its bridges with other domains of knowledge and socially relevant applications.

INESC TEC helps telling stories in 360º videos

Augmented Video 360 project, which was funded by Google, comes to an endIn 2017, under the innovation fund Digital News Initiative, Google issued a challenge that intended to stimulate the innovation in the digital journalism. INESC TEC addressed this challenge and, two years later, it presents the Augmented Video 360 – an editing and visualisation tool for 360º videos with dynamic annotations in order to improve narratives -, thus making the act of telling stores through 360º videos much easier.

Article on diabetic retinopathy wins Best Paper Award in the USA

The article "MedAL: Accurate and Robust Deep Active Learning for Medical Image Analysis", in which three INESC TEC’s researchers are co-authors, namely Pedro Costa and Adrian Galdran, collaborators of the Centre for Biomedical Engineering Research (C-BER) on the date of the paper, and Aurélio Campilho, current coordinator of C-BER and Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, received a “best paper award” at ICMLA 2018 - 17th Conference on Machine Learning and Application.

The book “The MANTIS Book - Cyber Physical System Based Proactive Collaborative Maintenance” was published in January 2019 with the results of the MANTIS project, which had INESC TEC's Centre for Enterprise Systems Engineering (CESE) as one of its partners and that ended in September 2018.
