INESC TEC researcher recognised at SPIE Photonics Europe 2026

Joana Teixeira, a researcher at INESC TEC, received the Best Student Paper Award at the SPIE Photonics Europe conference for her research work, which paves the way for the development of real-time multipoint optical sensing solutions, that is, systems capable of monitoring multiple points simultaneously and in real time.

INESC TEC travels to Brussels to sign the launch of the AI.grids project, part of the European Commission's Tech Sovereignty Package

Forty-eight partners - ranging from European electricity grid operators to research institutes and industry players - have come together to develop sovereign European AI models aimed at improving the management and planning of electricity grids. This is AI.grids, a European initiative officially launched in the first week of June at an event organised by the European Commission, where several other initiatives were also signed, all related to the Tech Sovereignty Package put forward by Brussels.

It is now possible to predict the spread of pests in vineyards, and INESC TEC has the solution

It is called VineShield-DT and uses technologies such as Digital Twins, artificial intelligence (AI), IoT (Internet of Things) sensors, and smart traps to predict pest spread in vineyards. The project is being developed by INESC TEC, as part of a consortium that also includes INIAV and CVRVV, and was recently presented at Portugal Smart Cities, one of the country's leading events dedicated to innovation and smart territories.
