Proceedings - 5th International Multi-Conference on Computing in the Global Information Technology, ICCGI 2010

Abstract
This paper looks at the adoption challenges of multiagent systems as an implementation of the intelligent manufacturing concept, which intends to offer a system characterized by its flexibility, reconfigurability, autonomy, reliability and learning capabilities. It describes the concept of multi-agent systems, its generic architecture and some relevant industrial implementations. Additionally, it analyzes the main multi-agent challenges looking for its benefits in the manufacturing industry, but also exposing its limitations and barriers for a widely industry adoption. © 2010 IEEE.

Proceedings of the 2nd International Workshop on Software Engineering for Resilient Systems, SERENCE 2010

Abstract
The EU Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) Project Connect aims at dropping the heterogeneity barriers that prevent the eternality of networking systems through a revo- lutionary approach: to synthesise on-the-y the Connectors via which networked systems communicate. The Connect approach, however, comes at risk from the standpoint of de- pendability, stressing the need for methods and tools that ensure resilience to faults, errors and malicious attacks of the dynamically Connected system. We are investigat- ing a comprehensive approach, which combines dependabil- ity analysis, security enforcement and trust assessment, and is centred around a lightweight adaptive monitoring frame- work. In this project paper, we overview the research that we are undertaking towards this objective and propose a uni- fying workow process that encompasses all the Connect dependability/security/trust concepts and models. Abstract
This paper describes a software application developed using the MATLAB language for a mobile mapping system (MMS) implemented at the University of Porto. An MMS includes a survey stage, where direct navigation and imaging sensors are mounted rigidly in a vehicle, to acquire time-synchronized navigation and image data. It also includes a processing stage which manipulates all the collected data to obtain absolute or relative coordinates for the object points appearing in the images. This report focuses mainly on the development of procedures to acquire images with time-tag information, perform several image manipulations, implement photogramrnetric and matching algorithms, and put it all together in a user-friendly graphic interface. One of the main objectives during the application development was to keep this standard MMS procedure as simple as possible. MATLAB has proven to be a very well-suited platform for achieving the proposed objectives, with the advantage that it made possible the construction of a user-friendly graphic interface. Innovations in Systems and Software Engineering

Abstract
Research in formal methods emphasizes a fundamental interconnection between modeling, calculation and prototyping, made possible by a common unambiguous, mathematical semantics. This paper, building on a broader research agenda on coalgebraic semantics for Unified Modeling Language diagrams, concentrates on class diagrams and discusses how such a coalgebraic perspective can be of use not only for formalizing their specification, but also as a basis for prototyping. © Springer-Verlag London Limited 2009.
