Abstract
Many aspects of our lives are associated with places and the activities we perform on a daily basis. Most of them are recurrent and demand displacement of the individual between regular places like going to work, school or other important personal locations. To accomplish these recurrent daily activities, people tend to follow regular paths with similar temporal and spatial characteristics, especially because humans are frequently looking for uniformity to support their decisions and make their actions easier or even automatic. In this work, we propose a method for discovering common pathways across users' habits from human mobility data. By using a density-based clustering algorithm, we identify the most preferable locations the users visit, we apply a Gaussian mixture model over these places to automatically separate among all traces, the trajectories that follow patterns in order to discover the representations of individual's habits. By using the longest common sub-sequence algorithm, we search for the trajectories that are more similar over the set of users' habits trips by considering the distance that pairs of users or habits share on the same path. The proposed method is evaluated over two real-world GPS datasets and the results show that the approach is able to detect the most important places in a user's life, detect the routine activities and identify common routes between users that have similar habits paving the way for research techniques in carpooling, recommendation and prediction systems.

The digital terrain model in the computational modelling of the flow over the Perdigao site: the appropriate grid size

Abstract
The digital terrain model (DTM), the representation of earth's surface at regularly spaced intervals, is the first input in the computational modelling of atmospheric flows. The ability of computational meshes based on high- (2 m; airborne laser scanning, ASL), medium- (10 m; military maps, Mil) and low-resolution (30 m; Shuttle Radar Topography Mission, SRTM) DTMs to replicate the Perdigao experiment site was appraised in two ways: by their ability to replicate the two main terrain attributes, elevation and slope, and by their effect on the wind flow computational results. The effect on the flow modelling was evaluated by comparing the wind speed, wind direction and turbulent kinetic energy using VENTOS (R)/2 at three locations, representative of the wind flow in the region. It was found that the SRTM was not an accurate representation of the Perdigao site. A 40m mesh based on the highest-resolution data yielded an elevation error of less than 1.4m and an RMSE of less than 2.5m at five reference points compared to 5.0m in the case of military maps and 7.6m in the case of the SRTM. Mesh refinement beyond 40m yielded no or insignificant changes on the flow field variables, wind speed, wind direction and turbulent kinetic energy. At least 40m horizontal resolution - threshold resolution based on topography available from aerial surveys is recommended in computational modelling of the flow over Perdigao.

Pretende-se nesta apresentação resumir o conceito, apresentar potencialidades e expor formas de incluir o tema no ensino.

Abstract
HARMONI is the adaptive optics assisted, near-infrared and visible light integral field spectrograph for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). A first light instrument, it provides the work-horse spectroscopic capability for the ELT. As the project approaches its Final Design Review milestone, the design of the instrument is being finalized, and the plans for assembly, integration and testing are being detailed. We present an overview of the instrument's capabilities from a user perspective, provide a summary of the instrument's design, including plans for operations and calibrations, and provide a brief glimpse of the predicted performance for a specific observing scenario. The paper also provides some details of the consortium composition and its evolution since the project commenced in 2015.
