AI for Robotic Welding Parametrization and Inspection

Welding is one of the traditional applications of industrial robots. However, its application to flexible automated productions is still limited. The main reasons are the limitations in robot programming and parametrization. The AI4R.WELD pilot, selected as a winner project in the ZDMP Open Call 2, combines automatic robot collision free program generation with advance sensing and machine learning for welding parametrization. The approach is human-centric and innovative promoting its usage and standardisation for welding application in a wide range of application areas. Fast and intuitive welding parametrization is the missing link for truly effective robotized welding.

This project has received cascading funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 825631.
