Working in the field of robotics often means dreaming of many things at once: creating robots that help people, taking part in international competitions, earning peer recognition. The range is broad and, in many cases, includes taking part in the Imperial Robotics Summer School, organised by Imperial College London.

More than a hundred university students spent four weeks at INESC TEC, getting to know our leading research Institute. The figures show that one third of these students received research grants to continue their work at INESC TEC after the internship ended, with some even resulting in job contracts.

The future of distributed systems was discussed in the city of Porto, with INESC TEC organising one of the most relevant international conferences in this field, in partnership with the University of Minho, TecMinho and Porto Business School. The International Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (SRDS 2025) took place from 29 September to 2 October 2025, marking the 44th edition of this initiative.

The journey began in Ulm, Germany, with the participation in an international conference dedicated to analytical spectroscopy. It then moved on to Brno, Czechia, for a visit to the Central European Institute of Technology to join an international symposium on advanced measurement, analysis, and control for energy and the environment. INESC TEC led the first analog space mission carried out within a habitat in Portugal. The Monsaraz Mars Analog Mission took place between 13 and 25 October in the outdoor area of the Observatório Astronómico do Lago-Alqueva (OLA), in Monsaraz; Ana Pires and Diogo Paupério represented INESC TEC in this endeavour.

The research work “Bayesian Quantum Amplitude Estimation” proposes an innovative approach to one of the fundamental tasks in quantum computing – amplitude estimation – with applications in fields like engineering, finance, and Artificial Intelligence.
