Self-driving cars? Yes, but only under certain conditions - sustainable and adaptable, according to our researchers

FRODDO - this is the name of the project that will improve the safety and robustness of autonomous and connected systems, e.g., self-driving cars, through the development and testing of technological solutions, thus supporting user-centred mobility. INESC TEC is one of the partners of this European project, with a funding of almost six million euros, under the Horizon Europe programme.

Advanced computing as a bridge between Portugal and Japan: INESC TEC and AIST reinforce scientific cooperation

Five years have passed since INESC TEC and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), in Japan, signed the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This scientific cooperation agreement, focused on advanced computing, led to major opportunities for mobility, joint publications and the exchange of knowledge and experiences, thus bringing the Portuguese and Japanese R&D ecosystems closer together – particularly in High-Performance Computing (HPC). Recently, the two institutes renewed the MoU and will continue to work together to boost research in advanced computing.

The revolution in the operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms involves robots and Artificial Intelligence - featuring INESC TEC

AEROSUB (Automated Inspection Robots for Surface, Aerial and Underwater Substructures) is the name of the new €12.1M project coordinated by INESC TEC, whose main objective is to revolutionise the operation and maintenance of fixed and floating offshore wind farms. How? Through the development of world-class technological solutions that reduce the operating costs of renewable energy production infrastructures in extreme environments. To achieve this goal, the project will - by 2030 - equip several robotic solutions with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analysis technologies.
