IEEE/Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Annual Conference

Abstract
A strategy for automated EEG (electroencephalogram) analysis based on time-domain events is presented. It consists of a simple algorithm made of modules. The events are selected and characterized in a first step of analysis according to a hierarchical procedure and then put together to form clusters which may be considered more complex events. Finally, a special-purpose hardware built to map this strategy is briefly described.

FAST TRANSIENT STABILITY ASSESSMENT IN ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS BY PATTERN RECOGNITION.

Authors
Pecas Lopes, JA; Maciel Barbosa, FP; Marques de Sa, JP;

Publication

Abstract
A candidate methodology for online transient stability assessment in power systems is presented. The method uses dynamic system variables as primary features. Linear security functions are derived by applying Fisher discriminant transformations and probabilistic considerations. Test results obtained on the CIGRE system are presented and discussed.

OPTICA ACTA

Abstract
Image processing can be supported by efficient thick holographic recording media such as photorefractive crystals. A numerical analysis is presented showing how low- and band-pass tunable filtering as well as frequency color coding can be performed with reflection holographic gratings recorded in photorefractive crystals.
