Abstract
This paper presents the Simulator of Intelligent Transportation Systems (SITS). The SITS is based on 2 microscopic simulation approach to reproduce real traffic conditions in an urban or non-urban network and considers, different types of vehicles, drivers and roads. A dynamical analysis of several traffic phenomena is then addressed.-The results of using classical system theory tools point out that it is possible to study traffic systems, taking advantage on the knowledge gathered with automatic control algorithms. In, this line of thought, it was also presented a new modelling formalism based on the embedding of statistics and Fourier transform.

Abstract
This paper presents a technique, called loop dissevering, for temporally partitioning any type of loop presented in programming languages. The technique can be used in the presence of complex loops that oversize the physically available hardware resources. Unlike loop fission or distribution, the technique can be applied to all types of loops and it is not constrained by loop dependences. Thus, the technique guarantees the compilation of complex loops that otherwise cannot be mapped to the target reconfigurable computing architecture. Moreover, the technique only needs to communicate scalar variables between temporal partitions (configurations) and does not need auxiliary array variables used for scalar expansion when applying loop distribution. We show the results of applying the technique when compiling C programs to the PACT eXtreme Processing Platform (XPP) and to a hypothetical version with faster switching between contexts. We show that the technique leads to implementations using fewer resources and might lead to performance improvements when it is possible to overlap some of the execution stages (e.g., fetch, configure, and compute). As performance is concerned, the technique is most efficient and the reconfiguration time is fast. © 2003 IEEE.

INTERACTIVE SYSTEMS: DESIGN, SPECIFICATION, AND VERIFICATION
Abstract
It is proposed an approach to integrate formal methods in the software development process, with an emphasis on the user interface development. The approach covers the specification by means of formal models, early model animation and validation, construction and conformity testing of the user interface implementation with respect to the specification. These conformity tests are described in detail through a state transition model with an abstraction function mapping concrete (implementation) to abstract (specification) states and operations. In order to illustrate the approach, it is presented a simple login/password dialog specification in VDM++, using a reusable control specification library, with a straightforward translation to Java or C#.

Abstract
Holonic manufacturing and multi-agent paradigms are suitable to support the actual challenges of flexible manufacturing systems, due to their decentralisation, modularity and autonomy features. The formal specification assumes a critical role in order to understand and synthesise those complex systems. The Petri Nets formalism is adequate to model and validate the dynamic behaviour, but present weak points when the system contains many instances of the same component, since the model grows (structure and components) in a noncontrollable manner. The use of High-Level Petri Nets, allows to reduce this complexity, by compressing the representation of states. actions and events, to overcome the identified limitations and to support more complex and bigger coordination scenarios. This paper presents a formal specification of the ADACOR product holons using High-Level Petri Nets and the associated formal validation of the model.
