E-MANUFACTURING: BUSINESS PARADIGMS AND SUPPORTING TECHNOLOGIES
Abstract
This paper proposes a social networking perspective on the e-manufacturing area. A short justification of the social network-perspective as applied to manufacturing organizations is made, focusing on methods and theoretical approaches. Then, it is speculated how social networking can be a paradigm for the management of networks of manufacturing enterprises. The management relationship (fostering collaboration and cooperation) and their support through new information systems architectures are the key issues. Finally, some research directions are discussed, focussing on new engineering paradigms.

VIRTUAL ENTERPRISES AND COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS
Abstract
This paper reviews relevant aspects of the formation and dissolution of interorganizational networks (ION) aiming at define requirements for systems managing knowledge networks in such environments. Firstly, the concept of networking and virtual organizing is reviewed. Then a major work on formation of ION is analysed and some conclusions are drawn regarding the design of ION. Finally, the requirements for knowledge management systems in the formation and dissolution of ION are discussed.

INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING EDUCATION
Abstract
This paper reports on the implementation of a required course on electronic instrumentation for informatics engineering students. These students had proved in previous years to require a special approach, as their motivation for this subject was low. The course focuses on the basic concepts of Electronic Instrumentation, including analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue conversion and introducing the concept of instrument control. The course was organised in a set of lectures coupled with laboratory experiments, and a small project. To foster collaborative learning all the students work on the same laboratory experiments, simultaneously, organised in groups of two. The students' feedback on the course was more positive than in previous years, although not substantially so in terms of results. We feel that a change of attitude took place effectively, and that this could be attributed to the laboratory experiments using LabVIEW.

VIRTUAL ENTERPRISES AND COLLABORATIVE NETWORKS
Abstract
Having in mind the inner value of the Zachman Framework for Enterprise Architecture itself this paper explores the introduction of the time perspective into the framework by using GRAI-grid decision centres concept The introduction to both these concepts paves the way to their combination in following paragraphs illustrating the Zachman / GRAI-grid conceptual integration for the analysis of a network of enterprises, finally illustrated with a case study.
