Abstract
An artificial neural network concept has been developed for transformer fault diagnosis using dissolved gas-in-oil analysis (DGA). A new methodology for mapping the neural network into a rule-based inference system is described. This mapping makes explicit the knowledge implicitly captured by the neural network during the learning stage, by transforming it into a Fuzzy Inference System. Some studies are reported, illustrating the good results obtained.

Abstract
Database replication based on group communication systems has recently been proposed as an efficient and resilient solution for large-scale data management. However, its evaluation has been conducted either on simplistic simulation models, which fail to assess concrete implementations, or on complete system implementations which are costly to test with realistic large-scale scenarios. This paper presents a tool that combines implementations of replication and communication protocols under study with simulated network, database engine, and traffic generator models. Replication components can therefore be subjected to realistic large scale loads in a variety of scenarios, including fault-injection, while at the same time providing global observation and control. The paper shows first how the model is configured and validated to closely reproduce the behavior of a real system, and then how it is applied, allowing us to derive interesting conclusions both on replication and communication protocols and on their implementations.

Abstract
Real-time image processing is a computational intensive task with applications in various engineering fields. In several image processing applications, a significant amount of computing power is committed to image enhancement operations, basic segmentation and identification of regions of interest for further analysis. Such type of front-end processing can be done efficiently by custom data-flow processors closely coupled to an image sensor This paper proposes a visual design environment to support the high-level design of custom data-flow processors for real-time image analysis applications. The tool is embedded in Matlab/Simulink, and the system modeling is done using a library of blocks that implement common low-level image processing operations. Functional validation is performed efficiently by the simulation engine of Simulink in a frame by frame basis, using the functions provided by the image processing toolbox in Matlab. The automatic generation of a synthesizable RTL model guarantees a logic implementation of the system that complies to the high-level model validated, under constraints imposed by the user and the target reconfigurable device.

Abstract
This paper provides evidence that Evolutionary Particle Swarm Algorithms outperform Genetic Algorithms in deriving optimal strategic decisions for an Energy Retailer, in the framework of a complex simulation of a multiple energy market, based on an Intelligent Agent FIPA-compliant open source platform.
