Abstract
This paper discusses some of the challenges presently found both in supply chain and in extended enterprise management. It also presents details of a Distributed Business Process Coordination Infrastructure that was used as a platform in the development of a software-based management system for a global supply chain in the garment sector. The pilot implementation that was undertaken allowed not only the validation of the proposed concepts but the testing of the integrated technological platform as well.

Abstract
Next generation communication networks will be characterized by the coexistence of multiple technologies and user devices in an integrated fashion. The increasing number of devices owned by a single user will lead to a new communication paradigm: users owning multiple devices that form cooperative networks, and networks of different users that communicate with each other, e.g., acquiring Internet access through each other. In this communication scenario no user intervention should be required and technology should seamlessly adapt to the user's context, preferences, and needs. In this paper we address one of those scenarios, interworking between Personal Area Networks, using legacy technologies and the Ambient Network and Network Composition concepts, herein explained. We argue that new functionalities should be introduced to enable effortless use of legacy technologies in such dynamic and heterogeneous environments. © 2005 IEEE.

Abstract
We propose a methodology to monitor the quality of the meta-data used to describe content in web portals. It is based on the analysis of the meta-data using statistics, visualization and data mining tools. The methodology enables the site's editor to detect and correct problems in the description of contents, thus improving the quality of the web portal and the satisfaction of its users. We also define a general architecture for a platform to support the proposed methodology. We have implemented this platform and tested it on a Portuguese portal for management; executives. The results validate the methodology proposed.
