Abstract
The use of computer systems to aid clinical decision making is growing. Besides clinical practice, computer applications, decision support systems or technologies can be used during dentistry and periodontology learning. A research was made using 30 searching expressions, based on MeSH Terms. A total of 17 articles were selected from the initial 249. Dental Students' Ability to Assess Gingival Health Status Software (DAAGS) and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) are two examples of computer programs used in Priodontology learning. 3D technologies, electronic devices and image analysis systems are tools used during periodontal diagnosis. Dental informatics and periodontology are extremely connected, because, many systems, technologies or electronic devices could be used during diagnose, treatment or pre-operative phase. Computer applications could also be used to improve learning skills during pre-clinical and clinical stages, and at same time other technologies as 3D can present more detailed data to clinician, leading to a correct decision.

A proposition of a manufactronic network approach for intelligent and flexible manufacturing systems

Abstract
The XPRESS project introduces a completely new scalable concept of a manufactronic networked factory, which is composed by a co-ordinated team of specialized autonomous objects (Manufactrons), each knowing how to do a certain process optimally. This knowledge based concept integrated the complete chain: production configuration (decrease of ramp-up time of at least 50%), multi-variant production line (varying types and volumes on a single line) and 100% quality monitoring. The manufactronic networked architecture allows continuous process improvement, and will be able to anticipate and to respond to rapidly changing consumer needs, producing high-quality products in adequate quantities while reducing costs. This concept is demonstrated in the automotive, aeronautics and electrical industry but can be transferred to nearly all production processes.

Factory templates: A decision support framework for manufacturing processes management

Abstract
In order to develop the new industrial paradigm, it is necessary to explore a framework supported by planning and operational tools. Indeed, it becomes clear that more and more the next factories need to be increasingly more flexible, agile and knowledge-based in order to be able to adapt in real time to the continuously changing market demands, technology options and regulations, as well as accelerate the design process and optimise production. Therefore, in this paper a framework capable of supporting the factory planning will be presented based on predefined templates and product requirements. Furthermore, the Factory Templates will allow for process deployment, control and evaluation in real-time. © 2011 AISTI.

Abstract
We present the specification of a basic library of dependability mechanisms that can be used within automated approaches for synthesising dependable connectors in heterogeneous networks. The library builds on classical dependability patterns, such as majority voting and retry, and uses the concept of overlay networks for triggering the synthesis of specific dependability mechanisms in the connector from high-level specifications. We translated such dependability mechanisms into SAN models with the aim to evaluate, through model-based analysis, which dependability mechanisms should be embedded in the synthesised connector for ensuring a given dependability level between networked systems willing to be connected. A case study is also presented to show the application of selected library mechanisms. This work is carried out in the context of connect, a European FET project which is investigating the possibility of enabling long-lasting inter-operation among networked systems by synthesising mediating connectors at run-time. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Fundamental conjectured supply function equilibrium: Application to the iberian system

Abstract
This paper presents a new two-step algorithm to compute a conjectured supply function electricity market equilibrium with DC transmission network constraints. This approach generalizes a previous authors' model developed for the single-bus case. Unlike other approaches, its main contribution is that the parameters of the first order approximation of the conjectured supply functions (intercept and slope) are endogenously determined, coherently with the network lines status. Nodal prices are used to split the market into single prices areas. Each area is treated as a single-bus market from the transmission constraints point of view, and the authors' single-bus algorithm is applied to compute the generators supply functions for each area. These new generators strategies are then cleared to determine new nodal prices and areas for the next iteration. Convergence is achieved when the network lines status and strategies of the generators do not change significantly in two consecutive iterations. The algorithm has been tested with some illustrative case examples, and with a simplified version of the MIBEL market (Spain-Portugal). © 2011 IEEE.
