Abstract
SDIs allow the gathering of technical and organizational elements needed to enable the usage of territorial based information in an interoperable way. However, the cost of managing an SDI is high and the expertise level required is too specialized which, combined, hamper its maintenance and operation. This work, still in progress, presents a proposal for a manager for a regional level SDI, free software based, following the European INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community) directive principles and complying with OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standards. This CMS (Content Management System) for the SDI will shield the user from the inherent complexity and ease the creation of innovative services and the integration of cross-sectorial applications for a given region, using the geographic information generated by each municipality, as well as provide data for sibling SDIs (inter regional) and parent SDIs (supra regional).

Abstract
This paper presents the application of textile based electrodes for surface electromyography embedded in a wearable locomotion data capture system for gait analysis. The system that is under development will allow the measurement of several locomotion-related parameters in a practical and non-invasive way, comfortable to the user, reusable which can be used by patients from light to severe impairments or disabilities. The present paper gives an overview of the research, regarding the design of the textile electrodes, the textile support, and communications.

2013 24TH INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON DATABASE AND EXPERT SYSTEMS APPLICATIONS (DEXA 2013)

Abstract
Energy systems worldwide are complex and challenging environments. Multi-agent based simulation platforms are increasing at a high rate, as they show to be a good option to study many issues related to these systems, as well as the involved players at act in this domain. In this scope the authors' research group has developed a multi-agent system: MASCEM (Multi-Agent System for Competitive Electricity Markets), which simulates the electricity markets. MASCEM is integrated with ALBidS (Adaptive Learning Strategic Bidding System) that works as a decision support system for market players. The ALBidS system allows MASCEM market negotiating players to take the best possible advantages from the market context. However, it is still necessary to adequately optimize the player's portfolio investment. For this purpose, this paper proposes a market portfolio optimization method, based on particle swarm optimization, which provides the best investment profile for a market player, considering the different markets the player is acting on in each moment, and depending on different contexts of negotiation, such as the peak and off-peak periods of the day, and the type of day (business day, weekend, holiday, etc.). The proposed approach is tested and validated using real electricity markets data from the Iberian operator - OMIE.

ROBOTICS AND AUTONOMOUS SYSTEMS

Abstract
This paper describes a novel approach in formation control for mobile robots in the active target tracking problem. A nonlinear model predictive formation controller (NMPFC) for target perception was implemented to converge a group of mobile robots toward a desired target. The team must also maintain a desired formation following a target while it is moving, or follow a leader in the case of target's absence. The structure details of the controller, as well as a mathematical analysis of the formation model used, are presented. Furthermore, results of simulations and experiments with real robots are presented and discussed.

Abstract
Recent developments in the areas of augmented reality, 360 degrees panoramas, social networks and geographical information systems enable the development of new solutions, which can contribute to several areas. This paper presents a new, Unity3D [8] based framework for the development of immersive augmented reality solutions and 360 degrees panoramas. This solution allows the aggregation of spatial information from disparate and heterogeneous sources, comprising the visualization of points of interest (POIs), image overlays (photographs), 3D objects and navigation between panoramas. This framework also features a strong multiplatform (web and mobile) component, and the possibility of developing new functional modules that can be easily plugged in. A prototype based on this solution, for geomarketing, is also presented.
