Tempo: ML-KEM to PAKE Compiler Resilient to Timing Attacks

Abstract
KEM-to-PAKE compilers have been recently proposed to leverage postquantum KEM standardization efforts. These typically follow the Encrypted Key Exchange (EKE) paradigm, where the KEM public key is encrypted under a password. While KEM implementations generally aim to execute all secret-dependent computations in constant time, such guarantees do not always extend to computations that depend only on the public key, as public keys are generally assumed to be public. A notable example is ML-KEM, where public keys include a short seed ? from which a large matrix is expanded prior to algebraic computations. This expansion procedure relies on rejection sampling which is, typically, implemented as a variable-time algorithm. However, compilers that follow the EKE paradigm must treat the public key as secret, since knowledge of the public key hidden in a ciphertext enables an offline dictionary attack on the password; therefore, instantiating these compilers with off-the-shelf implementations of ML-KEM or encrypting the public key under a password using variable-time methods (e.g., cycle walking or rejection sampling, as proposed in related PAKE literature) can be problematic. In this paper we show two approaches which yield ML-KEM-based PAKEs resilient to timing attacks. First, we explore constant-time alternatives to ML-KEM rejection sampling, but as one might expect, such methods impose a performance penalty on ML-KEM. Our second approach introduces a new ML-KEM-to-PAKE compiler that mitigates this issue by design: Our proposal transmits the seed ? in the clear, decoupling password-dependent computations from the seed expansion step. This means that off-the-shelf implementations of ML-KEM can be used. Our new protocol Tempo builds on an idea from CHIC (Asiacrypt’24), which considered splitting the KEM public key, and extends the NoIC protocol and proof (ePrint:2025/231) to show protocol simulation in the UC framework, assuming ML-KEM security under adversarially chosen seeds. We justify this assumption via a new hardness assumption, which we call Oracle-MLWE, and show that it is asymptotically equivalent to the MLWE problem in the Random Oracle Model. © 2026, Ruhr-University of Bochum. Effective Marketing and Consumer Behavior Tactics for High-End Products

Abstract
The main aim of this chapter is to study the digital touchpoints influencing customers' decisions in the five-star hospitality industry. This chapter adopted a qualitative methodology in the form of semi-structured interviews. The findings suggest the preeminent role of online travel agencies and hotel websites as the two most powerful touchpoints influencing the decision-making of the customer and serving as the principal means of making the reservation at the hotel. It also stresses the growing influence of customer-owned touchpoints, particularly user-generated content, in influencing customer perception. This research emphasizes the significance of personalized engagement in influencing customer satisfaction and loyalty. Overall, the study presents practical managerial implications for hoteliers, offering insights on how to effectively interact with customers at each stage of their journey, thereby enhancing both service delivery and overall guest experience. © 2025, IGI Global Scientific Publishing. Abstract
Spatio-temporal prediction tasks play a crucial role in facilitating informed decision-making through anticipatory insights. By accurately predicting future outcomes, the ability to strategize, preemptively address risks, and minimize their potential impact is enhanced. The precision in forecasting spatial and temporal patterns holds significant potential for optimizing resource allocation, land utilization, and infrastructure development. While existing review and survey papers predominantly focus on specific forecasting domains such as intelligent transportation, urban planning, pandemics, disease prediction, climate and weather forecasting, environmental data prediction, and agricultural yield projection, limited attention has been devoted to comprehensive surveys encompassing multiple objects concurrently. This article addresses this gap by comprehensively analyzing techniques employed in traffic, pandemics, disease forecasting, climate and weather prediction, agricultural yield estimation, and environmental data prediction. Furthermore, it elucidates challenges inherent in spatio-temporal forecasting and outlines potential avenues for future research exploration.

ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY

Abstract
Although the concept of Circular Economy (CE) has become popular in recent years, the transition towards a CE system requires a change in consumers' behaviour. However, there is still limited knowledge of consumers' efforts in CE initiatives. The present paper aims to analyse and compare consumers' behaviour towards circular approaches and compare the results on items like generation and demographics. 495 answers were collected through a questionnaire from 3 countries (Albania, Poland, and Portugal). Data collected was analysed mainly through a Crosstabs analysis to identify associations or different behaviours regarding nationality, gender, generation, education, and place of residence. From the paper's findings, we can emphasise that residents of EU countries seem to be more aware of the concept of circular economy. However, price is still a very important factor for EU residents when it comes to deciding on a greener purchase. Albanians (non-EU residents) tend to take a more linear approach when it comes to purchasing a new product regardless of its cost. Regarding the Digital Product Passport, a tool proposed by the European Commission through its Circular Economy Action Plan, non-EU residents have a better understanding of the concept. This tool seems to be more relevant for Millennials and Generation X. Generation Z, i.e., the tech generation, does not show an overwhelming propensity for technological options, such as online buying and digital technologies for a greener society.

Abstract
Onshore power supply (OPS) is a key enabler for decarbonizing port operations and meeting upcoming regulatory targets such as the EU AFIR Regulation 2023/1805 and Portugal's PNEC 2030. This paper presents a simulation-based framework for estimating the OPS demand of container ships at berth, integrating ship hoteling loads, reefer thermal dynamics with flexible control, and OPS/auxiliary engine (AE) dispatch under port grid constraints. A case study at Terminal XXI of the Port of Sines demonstrates the approach using high-resolution (1-minute) simulations. Results show that reefer flexibility enables peak shaving, OPS demand can be enforced within available grid capacity without violating thermal limits, and AE provides reliable backup. Complementary machine learning modules based on Gradient Boosting, Random Forest, and XGBoost enable accurate imputation of missing ship descriptors and OPS demand forecasting (R2 > 0.95). The framework provides an AI-ready decision-support tool for OPS infrastructure planning and port energy management. © 2025 IEEE.

INTERACTION DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURES

Abstract
Digital media can contribute to emergence of eating disorders by reinforcing idealised body standards, generating dissatisfaction with body image and encouraging conditions such as anorexia nervosa. Excessive use of the internet intensifies self-control difficulties, such as impulsivity, hyperactivity and behavioural problems, aggravating the situation. In this context, games can act as effective tools for prevention and treatment, stimulating self-knowledge, communication, behavioural change, and understanding of the disease. In anorexia, wellbeing is impaired by the demands of the disorder, which affects various life's dimensions. This article presents the co-design process to the creation and playtesting of a board game called Yama's Liberation, developed with patients and health professionals. The game was useful in promoting self-control, empathy, collective reflection, and flexibility of thought, contributing to mental, social, and digital wellbeing. While the game does not directly address the pathology itself, it has the potential to encourage adoption of positive behaviours among players.
