Abstract
This paper showcases MDSheet, a framework aimed at improving the engineering of spreadsheets. This framework is model-driven, and has been fully integrated under a spreadsheet system. Also, its practical interest has been demonstrated by several empirical studies.

Abstract
"Generic Shooter 3000" is a First-Person shooter with semi-realistic interaction, where actions such as firing a gun or diving through underwater sections are performed with your own body- through the use of biofeedback technology. This prototype is the idealised version of a research game developed for a master's thesis project on "biofeedback interaction in video games".

Abstract
Robotic sailing vehicles can provide the support for carrying out long ocean sampling missions, using solely renewable energy for propulsion and for powering the computing, communication and electromechanical systems. The basic automatic sailing tasks required to visit a sequence of waypoints has already been correctly addressed by various teams. However, an effective system for specifying long term autonomous missions is necessary to fill the gap between the developers of the robotic platforms and the scientific end users, mainly interested in the data they can get. This paper presents a simple, flexible and easy to use mission programming system implemented in the autonomous sailing boat FASt. A mission is programmed by defining events and assigning to them sequences of high level actions. The support of conditional statements allows the implementation of a basic control flow mechanism to make route decisions during the deployment of the mission. Examples are presented to illustrate the construction of mission programs.

2014 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MECHATRONICS AND CONTROL (ICMC)
Abstract
In this paper, a new method for music symbol classification named Combined Neural Network (CNN) is proposed. Tests are conducted on more than 9000 music symbols from both real and scanned music sheets, which show that the proposed technique offers superior classification capability. At the same time, the performance of the new network is compared with the single Neural Network (NN) classifier using the same music scores. The average classification accuracy increased more than ten percent, reaching 98.82%.

12TH EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN OPTICS AND PHOTONICS CONFERENCE
Abstract
This communication describes an optical hands-on fiber laser experiment aimed at advanced college courses. Optical amplifiers and laser sources represent very important optical devices in numerous applications ranging from telecommunications to medicine. The study of advanced photonics experiments is particularly relevant at undergraduate and master level. This paper discusses the implementation of an optical fiber laser made with a cavity built with two tunable Bragg gratings. This scheme allows the students to understand the laser working principles as a function of the laser cavity set-up. One or both of the gratings can be finely tuned in wavelength through applied stress; therefore, the degree of spectral mismatch of the two gratings can be adjusted, effectively changing the cavity feedback. The impact of the cavity conditions on the laser threshold, spectrum and efficiency is analyzed. This experiment assumes that in a previous practice, the students should had already characterized the erbium doped fiber in terms of absorption and fluorescent spectra, and the spectral gain as a function of pump power.
