2014 SMART GRID CONFERENCE (SGC)
Abstract
Smart local energy networks represent a key option for more penetration of sustainably developed facilities. These facilities can cause an extended dependency in both time and carrier domains which should be considered through a comprehensive model. This paper introduces a new concept of internal and external dependencies. The concept is related to penetration of energy converters on demand side and the effects they bring to the system. Being achieved by implementation of smart grid, dependencies release operational flexibility and subsequently enhance the system efficiency. The model contains, carrier based demand response which preserves consumers satisfaction by utilizing the flexibility in exchanging the input energy carrier instead of changing end-usage pattern. The paper develops the coupling matrix model for smart multi-energy systems considering the external dependency as an added module to the overall model.

2014 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON PROBABILISTIC METHODS APPLIED TO POWER SYSTEMS (PMAPS)
Abstract
This paper presents a new stochastic programming model for PAR/PST definition and location in a network with a high penetration of wind power, with probabilistic representation, to maximize wind power penetration. It also presents a new optimization meta-heuristic, denoted DEEPSO, which is a variant of EPSO, the Evolutionary Particle Swarm Optimization method, borrowing the concept of rough gradient from Differential Evolution algorithms. A test case is solved in an IEEE test system. The performance of DEEPSO is shown to be superior to EPSO in this complex problem.

Abstract
This paper reports the development of a system to instrument a surfboard aiming to evaluate wave riding performance. According to the research only 3.8% - 5% of the total surfing time corresponds to the wave riding movements, despite of been the surfing goal. The system developed collects the data from twenty four force sensors positioned beneath the surfer's feet using a microcontroller ATMEGA1280, and determines the surfer's feet positioning and Centre of Pressure (CoP). Furthermore, an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) with an ADXL335 accelerometer and an IDG500 gyroscope provides information of the surfboard's position in relation to the gravity force axis. To store the result of the acquisitions a SD Card is used. To transmit the data to an external device such as a computer, a WI-FI module complete the electronic system. A battery management was used to allow the system to work remotely. This work presents an overview of the parameter recognized in literature as influencing athlete's performance and a brief description of the major manoeuvres in competition to figure out the parameters to be measured likewise the system developed. Preliminary tests with five different setups have shown that the force sensors to measure CoP and the electronic circuit board works properly.

Encyclopedia of Social Network Analysis and Mining
Abstract
Dynamic (or volatile) network: A network which structure changes over time, some nodes and edges may appear and disappear Local property: A metric that describes a topological aspect on the local neighborhood of a node Structural role: The structural position of a node in the network, characterized by its local properties Transition pattern: A typical role change, characterized by its time interval and by the origin and destination role Definition Many networks are intrinsically dynamic and change over time. These networks can be very volatile, with a significant number of edges and nodes appearing and disappearing. The majority of the existing network mining methodologies are however geared toward a more static scenario, with a single graph describing the topology of the system being analyzed. There is still a need for measurements and tools that allow the temporal dimension on network analysis to be…. © Springer Science+Business Media New York 2014.

COLLABORATIVE SYSTEMS FOR SMART NETWORKED ENVIRONMENTS
Abstract
Within collaborative networks, information sharing and knowledge creation are the main drives for value creation, wherever collaborative spaces (CS) has been used as the means to enable collaboration among the different social actors involved. Despite of technological availability, CS still a challenge in practice, mainly due to the lack of methods to support its development and to its tight coupling with the collaboration model adopted by the network. Thus, the main focus of this paper in on enhancing information sharing through the design of what we call agnostic collaborative spaces (ACS), supported by linked data approaches. Beyond this new perspective over CS, it is discussed a technological solution through which ACS are implemented.

Abstract
New technologies such as Plug-in Electric Vehicles or PEVs bring new trends in areas where multi entities interact. One of these areas is the facilities in cities for better manipulation of technologies. Encouraging the utilization of PEVs necessitates the provision of charging stations. In this regard, PEV Parking Lots (PLs) can be a great help as they can solve both urban and electrical problem of PEVs. On the other hand, gathering numerous PEVs in one point like PLs provides the system operator with the opportunity of PEVs batteries that can be used as potential storages. Therefore, in this paper, the optimum behavior of PEV PLs is modeled while they contribute their batteries' capacity in both energy and reserve market. The charging schedule of PLs with various numbers of stations has been reported as well as their share in the market as an energy source during peak hours.
