JOURNAL OF INNOVATION & KNOWLEDGE
Abstract
In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, the substantial advance and rapid growth of data presents companies and their operations with a set of opportunities from different sources that can profoundly impact their competitiveness and success. The literature suggests that data can be considered a hidden weapon that fosters decision-making while determining a company's success in a rapidly changing market. Data are also used to support most organizational activities and decisions. As a result, information, effective data governance, and technology utilization will play a significant role in controlling and maximizing the value of enterprises. This article conducts an extensive methodological and systematic review of the data governance field, covering its key concepts, frameworks, and maturity assessment models. Our goal is to establish the current baseline of knowledge in this field while providing differentiated and unique insights, namely by exploring the relationship between data governance, data assurance, and digital forensics. By analyzing the existing literature, we seek to identify critical practices, challenges, and opportunities for improvement within the data governance discipline while providing organizations, practitioners, and scientists with the necessary knowledge and tools to guide them in the practical definition and application of data governance initiatives. Abstract
We present an overview of CheckThat! Lab's 2024 Task 3, which focuses on detecting 23 persuasion techniques at the text-span level in online media. The task covers five languages, namely, Arabic, Bulgarian, English, Portuguese, and Slovene, and highly-debated topics in the media, e.g., the Isreali-Palestian conflict, the Russia-Ukraine war, climate change, COVID-19, abortion, etc. A total of 23 teams registered for the task, and two of them submitted system responses which were compared against a baseline and a task organizers' system, which used a state-of-the-art transformer-based architecture. We provide a description of the dataset and the overall task setup, including the evaluation methodology, and an overview of the participating systems. The datasets accompanied with the evaluation scripts are released to the research community, which we believe will foster research on persuasion technique detection and analysis of online media content in various fields and contexts. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Abstract
Self-adaptive Systems (SaS) are becoming increasingly important for adapting to dynamic environments and for optimizing performance on resource-constrained devices. A practical approach to achieving self-adaptability involves using a Pareto-Front (PF) to store the system's hyper-parameters and the outcomes of hyperparameter combinations. This paper proposes a novel method to approximate a PF, offering a configurable number of solutions that can be adapted to the device's limitations. We conducted extensive experiments across various scenarios, where all PF solutions were replaced, and real world scenarios were performed using actual measurements from a Human Activity Recognition (HAR) system. Our results show that our method consistently outperforms previous methods, mainly when the maximum number of PF solutions is in the order of hundreds. The effectiveness of our method is most apparent in real-case scenarios where it achieves, when executed in a Raspberry Pi 5, up to 87% energy consumption reduction and lower execution times than the second-best algorithm. Additionally, our method ensures a more evenly distributed solution across the PF, preventing the high concentration of solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

Abstract
This work compares six AC/DC power conversion chain topologies commonly employed by industrial companies for implementing electrolyzers. The main purpose is to help identify the eventual advantages of joining the traditional high-power rectifiers to an additional stage based on DC/DC conversion. The comparison is based on the current ripple, power factor, total harmonic distortion, scalability, and solution complexity. A Simulink model corresponding to each topology was developed to determine comparison criteria. The procedure consists of performing a steady-state analysis of each topology through simulations to obtain the main waveforms and the values of the established criteria and then calculating the scores for each technical solution. The findings indicated that the 24-pulse diode bridge rectifier plus DC-DC without interphase reactor exhibited the best performance. © 2024 IEEE.

ENGINEERING OPTIMIZATION
Abstract
In various machine learning applications, classification plays an important role in categorizing and predicting data. To improve the classification performance, it is crucial to identify and remove the anomalies. Also, class imbalance in many machine learning applications is a very common problem since most classifiers tend to be biased toward the majority class by ignoring the minority class instances. Thus, in this research, we propose a new under-sampling technique based on anomaly detection and removal to enhance the performance of imbalanced classification problems. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, comprehensive experiments are conducted on forty imbalanced data sets and two non-parametric hypothesis tests are employed to show the statistical difference in classification performances between the proposed method and other traditional resampling methods. From the experiment, it is shown that the proposed method improves the classification performance by effectively detecting and eliminating the anomalies among true-majority or pseudo-majority class instances.

EXPLAINABLE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, XAI 2024, PT IV
Abstract
This study introduces a method to assess the quality of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) algorithms in dynamic data streams, concentrating on the fidelity and stability of feature-importance and rule-based explanations. We employ XAI metrics, such as fidelity and Lipschitz Stability, to compare explainers between each other and introduce the Comparative Expert Stability Index (CESI) for benchmarking explainers against domain knowledge. We adopted the aforementioned metrics to the streaming data scenario and tested them in an unsupervised classification scenario with simulated distribution shifts as different classes. The necessity for adaptable explainers in complex scenarios, like failure detection is underscored, stressing the importance of continued research into versatile explanation techniques to enhance XAI system robustness and interpretability.
