Lecture Notes in Computer Science (including subseries Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence and Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics)

Abstract
This paper describes the implementation of a modular, flexible and self-organized cyber-physical conveyor system build up with different individual modular and intelligent transfer modules. For this purpose, multi-agent systems (MAS) is used to distribute intelligence among transfer modules supporting plugability and modularity, complemented with self-organization capabilities to achieve a truly self-reconfigurable system. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

TVX 2019: PROCEEDINGS OF THE 2019 ACM INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES FOR TV AND ONLINE VIDEO

Abstract
The first international workshop on Data-driven Personalisation of Television aims to highlight the significantly growing importance of data in the support of new television content consumption experiences. This includes automatic video summarization, dynamic insertion of content into media streams and object based media broadcasting, to serve the recommendation of TV content and personalization in media delivery. The workshop has two keynote talks alongside five paper presentations and several related demos.

IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Abstract
The paper describes templates for model-based analysis of usability and safety aspects of user interface software design. The templates crystallize general usability principles commonly addressed in user-centred safety requirements, such as the ability to undo user actions, the visibility of operational modes, and the predictability of user interface behavior. These requirements have standard forms across different application domains, and can be instantiated as properties of specific devices. The modeling and analysis process is carried out using the Prototype Verification System (PVS), and is further facilitated by structuring the specification of the device using a format that is designed to be generic across interactive systems. A concrete case study based on a commercial infusion pump is used to illustrate the approach. A detailed presentation of the automated verification process using PVS shows how failed proof attempts provide precise information about problematic user interface software features.

Abstract
Nowadays, companies are facing a constant need to develop and increase coordination between operational functions to respond rapidly and accurately to customer requests. Linked with this need, an increasing number of practitioners are resorting to an established and integrated business management methodology, the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP). The concept of S&OP has gained increased recognition over the years by several authors and companies. This project describes the S&OP implementation in Sogrape Vinhos (wines) S.A., a Portuguese wine producer and distributer. The company was confronted with low accuracy in the establishing the forecast demand plans, especially on a long-term horizon. In order to increase the demand plans accuracy, the company started a S&OP implementation program. This paper describes the company’s current planning process, explains the S&OP’s implementation model presenting the selected parameters adequate to the company’s context, and finally, evaluate the expected outcomes of this project. Preliminary results from the S&OP implementation project at Sogrape indicate significant savings at the operational level and greater effectiveness in developing the company's demand plans. © 2019 The Authors. 45TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE IEEE INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS SOCIETY (IECON 2019)

Abstract
Internet of Things (IoT) envisages a reality in which people and objects are interconnected in such a way that a series of services, previously unthinkable, become real. The impact of IoT technologies is already tangible in industry, particularly under the Industry 4.0 initiative, but yet far to be fully exploited in other areas, such as building automation. This paper highlights the importance of using IoT and other emergent technologies to develop building automation applications that serves as base in smart cities, particularly supporting the interoperability among home automation solutions provided by different manufacturers. For this purpose, a low cost IoT enabler solution for building automation is presented, based on the use of cyber-physical systems, as backbone to integrate different IoT technologies and building automation technologies. The proposed approach was successfully implemented in an open space laboratory.
