Underwater robotics, acoustic signal processing

Work description

Design and develop underwater localization systems based on acoustic processes, aiming to create adaptive mechanisms to improve relative localization between two or more robotic devices. Implement the designed methods and prototypes, focusing on their realization in embedded computer systems for underwater vehicles or other small robotic devices. This activity will involve the development of dedicated digital signal processing systems built on integrated platforms combining CPUs and FPGAs. Validate and characterize the developed systems through field tests and prepare technical documentation on the developed systems, particularly regarding the characterization of the developed prototypes. Support the execution of experiments in a real-world environment; write scientific articles; and write the scholarship activity report.

Academic Qualifications

Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Minimum profile required

Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with specialization training involving electronics, digital signal processing, digital systems and computers, with a grade higher than 14 out of 20.Currently enrolled in a Doctoral Program.

Preference factors

Prior experience in the development of location systems involving underwater acoustics; Prior experience in the design of digital systems for signal processing, particularly for FPGA platforms. Completion of a master's thesis in an area close to the scope of the work plan foreseen for the scholarship.
