Ricardo Barbosa, researcher at the Centre for Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS), received the "ABB Award", awarded by ABB (Asea Brown Boveri) SA, within the scope of his thesis Odometry and Extrinsic Sensor Calibration on Mobile Robots.

INESC TEC's Centre for Industrial Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CRIIS) will develop an innovative robot to carry out the control and maintenance of row and inter-row vegetation in vineyards/olive groves - which will later be tested through a pilot at a longer timescale. The pilot will be carried out under the European project NOVATERRA, which aims to ensure greater food security, promoting the access to healthier food and minimising the impact of the use of pesticides on the environment.

INESC TEC, together with INEGI, organised the Advanced Program in Industry 4.0, which aimed to empower companies from the national industrial sector, helping them address the challenges of digital transformation brought by the ongoing fourth industrial revolution. This initiative took place between October 8 and November 26, at the premises of INEGI and INESC TEC, in Porto.
