
For five days, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) became the meeting point for the international scientific community dedicated to information retrieval, bringing together around 500 experts to discuss search and recommendation models, the integration of language models, and the challenges associated with evaluating and improving the efficiency of these systems. INESC TEC took part in the 48th edition of the European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR 2026) with a team of researchers presenting several scientific papers and organising a workshop.

Every year, Port wine producers must decide whether to sell their wine for immediate revenue or store it to age - and, in theory, sell it later at a higher price. To support this decision, INESC TEC has developed a model that seeks to anticipate what may happen over time, considering factors like uncertainty and the interaction between different categories of wine.

At both the EDITO Digital Ocean Forum and the AGU Ocean Sciences Meeting 2026, the outcomes of the Iliad project took centre stage within the ambition to create a digital twin of European seas.

Portugal and the United States of America (USA) came together to discuss the digital and energy transition, bringing academia, industry, regulatory bodies and policymakers from both countries to a closed-door seminar at Stanford (California). Nuno Faria, a researcher at INESC TEC, has joined the board of the Graph Data Council (GDC), a leading international non-profit organisation in the field of graph databases. Faria, who is also a guest lecturer at the School of Engineering of the University of Minho, is the only Portuguese member on the GDC board, which includes representatives from companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, and AWS.

INESC TEC attended the European Robotics Forum (ERF) 2026, Europe’s leading event dedicated to robotics. Held annually, the forum brings together researchers, companies and policymakers from across the continent to share ideas, technologies and opportunities for collaboration. This year’s edition took place in Stavanger, Norway, from 23 to 27 March.

On 27 March, all roads led to Santarém, more specifically to CNEMA - the National Exhibition Centre for Agriculture - for the Fórum Nacional dos Clubes Ciência Viva na Escola. INESC TEC, as a partner of Ciência Viva, was present to mark the 30th anniversary of the country’s largest network for promoting scientific and technological culture.
