Abstract
This paper deals with integration of energy storage systems into electricity markets. We explain why the energy storage systems increase flexibility of both power systems and energy markets and why such flexibility is desirable, particularly when variable renewable energy sources are being used in existing power systems. As opposed to the existing literature, our model includes a dual technology energy storage system, acting in two different markets. We introduce a mathematical formulation for this model applied to two Dutch electricity markets. Adopting optimal control approach with the goal to maximize the yearly benefit, we show that the dual energy storage system can be profitable already when the same buying/selling strategies are adopted for the working days and weekends. We show that the profitability (slightly) increases with different buying/selling strategies for the weekdays and weekends. Finally, we demonstrate how the yearly benefit varies with size and efficiency of the devices chosen and market prices. (C) 2017 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Abstract
This work addresses the possibility of integrating Electric Vehicles (EV) in the Automatic Generation Control (AGC) operation for provision of secondary reserves in interconnected systems, contributing to reduce the requirements for conventional secondary reserves in systems with large scale integration of renewable sources. A test system was used to assess the performance of EV as secondary reserve providers, when facing the loss of conventional generation as well as the loss of a large amount of wind power production.

Abstract
Accounting for the increasing uncertainties related to forecast of renewables is becoming an essential requirement while assessing the security of future power system scenarios. The FP7 EU project iTesla tackles these needs and reaches several major objectives, including the development of a security platform architecture. In particular, the platform implements a complex stochastic dependence model to simulate a reasonable cloud of plausible "future" states - due to renewable forecast - around the expected state, and evaluates the security on relevant states sampling the cloud of uncertainty. The paper focuses on the proposed model of the uncertainty and its exploitation in power system security assessment process.
