Abstract
This paper proposes a new integrated architecture for advanced manufacturing management with a Ubiquitous Management System (UMS) and a collection of adequate features to sustain it, where pragmatics on collaboration mechanisms prevails. The Market-of-Resources repository and its advanced brokering process will enable reliable interoperability, services dynamic packages and reconfiguration, as well as the (co-) management of production process, regardless information systems and using real-time collaboration mechanisms. This article contributes for building a logical model for UMS as well as an UML formalization for its supporting architecture

Abstract
In this work, a survey is made of the analysis of the resource selection process. We approach the process also from the point of view of conventional enterprises but with particular emphasis on the existent models in Agile/Virtual Enterprises in order to identify the main limitations and shortcomings of the process. This analysis was focused in the global process of the resource selection, namely in terms of the pre-selection and selection phases, requisites, mathematical models, tools and other relevant areas in the existent models. It is concluded that the resource pre-selection is an area that is not adequately explored in a systematic way. The value concept is not incorporated in the selection process. As a result, a reasoned analysis is not performed of the decision-making process for creating an Agile/Virtual Enterprise. These conclusions were made to envision a future approach that allows the incorporation of new areas that contribute to the improvement of the resource selection process.

Abstract
The current financial crisis highlights real problems profoundly related to the level of financial knowledge. Some studies suggest that many individuals, including small business owners, do not have adequate financial skills to be able to handle their finances. The term "financial literacy" summarizes the set of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to enable recognition and understanding of the foundations of personal finance. Informed and literate individuals are able to make responsible decisions. Our paper presents the preliminary results obtained with the Portuguese StudentFinance2012 survey. A total of 612 university students from seven different institutions agreed to participate and complete the survey. The sample has an average age of 23.67 years and is gender balanced. Students were classified in three course areas such as engineering, business and management, or design and tourism. Most respondents frequent a degree course, being the university mostly a public institution. A majority of our students has solely funded by their parents or family. By analyzing the total amount of financial products, we obtained an average of 2.57 financial products by student. To analyze financial literacy, our study developed measures such students' financial involvement, financial knowledge and parents influence and explore it as a function to issues such as age, gender, course area, course type, type of university and parental funding. The results suggest that the financial involvement of students evolves over time (as age increases, the financial involvement also increases) and confirm significant dependence with demographic variables such as gender, age, or course, among others. For the financial knowledge the results are encouraging, with students to show interesting levels of knowledge. We also identified relations of dependence with age, gender and course, among many others. Parental influence was analyzed by the level of agreement with statements related to the perceptions of the influence and behavior of parents about money, budgeting, saving and paying bills. The main results indicate that parents are a positive influence and that studentsare experiencing a financial behaviour that integrates the family.

Abstract
This paper aims to point up the critical topics that need to be addressed towards a fully implementation of lean management as well as the adoption of learning mechanisms and information and communication systems in order to attain organisational differentiation through performance enhancement and integration of management practices that favour business sustainability. Firstly, we will try to explain the complexity of a construction project and how lean principles can be adapted to the construction industry, as well as some practical examples of the adoption of new technologies. Then, it will be explained how knowledge management and learning mechanisms can be critical in attaining a competitive advantage in this sector. Finally, a conceptual model will be presented based on the literature studies and the main results obtained from the focus group conducted with project managers from the construction area.

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a methodology that allows higher education institutions (HEIs) to promote, to evaluate and to report on sustainability. The ultimate goal of the afore-mentioned methodology is to help HEIs achieve sustainability. First, a model entitled Sustainability in Higher Education Institutions (SusHEI) that generally describes and characterizes the functioning of an HEI was defined. SusHEI takes into account the core activities of any HEI (education and research), its impacts at economic, environmental and social levels, and the role of its community. SusHEI allowed for the establishment of internal dimensions interrelated to the functioning of an HEI. Then, a matricial representation of the model was developed. The matrix crosses internal dimensions (and eventually sub-dimensions) with sustainability dimensions (and eventually sub-dimensions) and it is quantified through indicators. There is a wide range of possible sustainability indicators that can be chosen, depending on the purpose and the public to whom the indicators/reports are addressed. The methodology is illustrated by a case-study - the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). This paper provides a methodology that enables the selection of sustainability indicators for sustainability reporting, assessment or even for benchmarking, and also eliminates some of the main weaknesses found in the models currently available. Abstract
We propose two exact algorithms for two-dimensional orthogonal packing problems whose main components are simple mixed-integer linear programming models. Based on the different forms of time representation in scheduling formulations, we extend the concept of multiple time grids into a second dimension and propose a hybrid discrete/continuous-space formulation. By relying on events to continuously locate the rectangles along the strip height, we aim to reduce the size of the resulting mathematical problem when compared to a pure discrete-space model, with hopes of achieving a better computational performance. Through the solution of a set of 29 test instances from the literature, we show that this was mostly accomplished, primarily because the associated search strategy can quickly find good feasible solutions prior to the optimum, which may be very important in real industrial environments. We also provide a comprehensive comparison to seven other conceptually different approaches that have solved the same strip packing problems.
