Abstract
The purpose of this study is to confirm the structural validity of the Questionario de Estilos Educativos Parentais (QEEP) in a sample of Portuguese adolescents. This instrument is an adaptation of the Parenting Scales to the Portuguese population and intends to evaluate adolescents' perceptions of the rearing style of their parents. It is composed of 19 items related with two dimensions: Acceptance (Responsiveness) and Monitoring (Supervision). The sample has comprised 210 boys and 213 girls aged from 12 to 15 years. A two-dimensional model has emerged from confirmatory factorial analysis - Acceptance, similar to the original subscale, and Knowledge, composed by some items from the Monitoring dimension. Internal consistency coefficients are acceptable for research purposes.

ACTA MEDICA PORTUGUESA
Abstract
The human possibility of becoming old - the so called Nestor Effect -, as an evolutionary adaptation, is beneficial only if there is some preservation of a certain cognitive character. Differing neuropathological conditions, such as neurodegenerative diseases, due to an abnormal aggregation of certain proteins, may induce chronic inflammatory processes. As so, physical activity increases aerobic fitness and the brain's blood flow capacity, contributing to the decrease of the central nervous system's chronic inflammation, promoting neuroplasticity, and neural circuitry's reorganisation.

Abstract
The creation process in digital art relies often on collaborations between an artist (or group of artists) and a multidisciplinary team. This collaboration implies a multidisciplinary work involving art, science, technology, design, psychology, etc. that come together by sharing a common communicational and informational space. In this essay we bring into discussion how the creation process cycle in digital art could be instantiated and applied for the development of serious games through end-user purposes of both creative authors: the digital artists and the serious games developers. We realise a comprehensive analysis of this creation process in digital art, specially the aesthetic musing activity, while devising how it could be helpful to introduce new engaging stimulus in the creative process of serious games. © 2010 International Federation for Information Processing.

Abstract
NUVE is an artistic project that aims to explore the artistic possibilities offered by the digital dance performances in the interaction between the individual and his virtual double. In NUVE we conceptualized, developed and implemented a digital artifact, resulting in a fluid digital performance based on the theme of the analog body versus the digital virtual body.

Abstract
This study has grown out of research and development work, begun in 1996, in the field of communication technologies and multimedia services in the context of professional training. It has been designed to identify and report on the factors that determine the way in which communication technologies influence the performance of learners in learning contexts and distributed learning communities and in eLearning and bLearning environments. It is based on the specification and validation experience that has been gained from solutions used in the “Formare” learning management system.
A conceptual model for the new version of LMS Formare has been developed on the basis of a number of factors. These include a theoretical framework, research outcomes and the results of innovation projects allied with 14 years professional experience of delivering distance teaching, eLearning and bLearning in a business context, this delivery being based on the principles of communication and the management of learning in real learning environments.
In addition to investigating the underlying principles and main components of learning organizations, distance teaching, communication, multimedia education, eLearning and bLearning, this thesis focuses on the analysis of two case studies supported by Formare. The first of these involves self-learning on Campus PT and the second collaborative learning in the context of training eTrainers.
For each of the case studies, the technological and pedagogical options employed were analyzed and validated. Data was collected on trainee’s perceptions, degree of use and pedagogical assessments. The main conclusions and indicators involved in implementing eLearning in organizations using LMS Formare were also identified.
The thesis draws these various threads together by presenting the main results, limitations and conclusions of the research. It also outlines a number of concerns bearing on future activity in this area, thus attempting to contribute to the development of eLearning in Learning Organizations.
