Abstract
The occurrence of the first illnesses of the inhabitants of Poland and Portugal caused decision-makers to introduce many changes in the functioning of economic units in various areas. This document aims to answer the questions of whether the changes related to the occurrence of COVID-19 had a significant impact on the housing situation of students by answering two questions: (1) How has the pandemic affected the change in the form of residence? (2) What changes in the provisions of the contract do students expect after returning to the full-time form? The empirical study was conducted based on data obtained from a survey. The research was conducted in May and June 2021 on a sample of 599 students at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and the School of Technology and Management of Porto Polytechnic in Portugal. The analysis related to the determination of statistically significant interdependencies of socio-demographic characteristics of respondents with their attitudes, and a multidimensional method of comparative analysis was used, known as correspondence analysis. As a method of recording data in the analysis of correspondence, the Burt matrix was used. The result of the statistical analysis was the identification of structural relationships between variables and objects (respondents). The results showed different behaviours related to housing conditions in Poland and Portugal. Polish students, due to the epidemiological situation, were mostly forced to change their place of residence, which was usually associated with returning to their family home. This trend was not observed for students in Portugal (median response: Housing had not been affected in any way by the pandemic).

PROCEEDINGS OF THE 2016 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT INNOVATIONS

Abstract
The article presents the results of the study and comparison of innovation of Portuguese and Polish companies. For this research, the perspective is taken from innovation based in intangible factors, trying to measure, above all, the organizational culture of companies on innovation. The results state that Portuguese firms are less innovative than Polish ones. At the same time, in both countries manufacturing companies are more innovative than companies in the construction sector. In the case of Polish companies it was demonstrated that there was a relationship between the size and age of the innovation. The research results will be used to assess the culture of enterprises' innovation in other countries.

Abstract
This research analyses the degree of maturity of project management practices. The study object were the organizations that develop their main activity in manufacturing machines for the mining and quarrying and construction industries, in the region of Tamega e Sousa (Portugal). The theoretical background is the Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3 (R)). The methodological approach adopted was case study research (multiple case study). The results give us cues to believe that the degree of maturity of this industry is very low. The three companies analysed revealed levels of maturity around 15%. The reasons behind the low level of maturity are related with the lack of adoption of organizational enablers and the low level use of project management practices: 48% of project management processes are not used, and 28% are classified into an ad-hoc stage. In a management context this research can be a starting point to improve project management in organizations. Yet, one can conclude that these organizations develop their daily operations within a project management perspective but this is not recognized by them. Even identifying processes that are part of recognized good project management practices, these organizations score for a relatively low maturity level. This research brought important practical contributions, by raising at least awareness of the project management value in the organizations studied.
