HEMODIALYSIS INTERNATIONAL

Abstract
Vascular access is one of the leading causes of mobilization of financial resources in health systems for people with chronic kidney disease on hemodialysis. Physical examination of the arteriovenous fistula (AVF) has demonstrated its effectiveness in identifying complications. We decided to evaluate the influence of nurses' professional experience in the detection of complications of the AVF (venous stenosis and steal syndrome). The study took place in eight hemodialysis centers between May and September of 2011 in the north of Portugal. Sample was constituted by registered nurses. The nurses involved in the experiment were divided in two groups: those who had more than 5 years of experience and those who had less than 5 years of experience. Ninety-two nurses participated in the study: 34 nurses had less than 5 years of professional experience and 58 had more than 5 years of professional experience. In the practices considered by nurses in the detection of venous stenosis, there were no differences observed between the groups (P > 0.05). In steal syndrome, there were no differences observed between the groups in the practices of the nurses in the detection of this complication of the AVF (P > 0.05). We concluded that professional experience does not influence the detection of venous stenosis and steal syndrome.

Abstract
Childhood obesity is a consequence of environments that disrupt the balance of energy intake and energy expenditure. Obesogenic environments consist of social norms and environmental factors that facilitate unhealthy behaviors around diet and physical activity. Nutritional knowledge and physical activity are cornerstones of every obesity treatment. The aims are to understand and compare how nutritional knowledge and physical activily panerns occur in children and adolescents, and if there's any differences by gender. Methods Sample comprised 467 children and adolescents, 237 boys. PA was measured using Actigraph accelerometers (GTSXsl^ Participants were instructed to use the accelerometer, according to standard procedures, and data analyzed using the recommended guidelines (Evenson et al, 2008) Nutritional Knowledge INKI was assessed using the General Nutrition Questionnaire for Portuguese Adolescent, and results presented as a Final Nutritional Score, in accordance with standard procedures (Ferro-Lebres, V, Ribeiro, J, Moreira, P, 2014). Height, weight body mass index were also assessed. Univariate Analysis of Variance-GLM was used to compare genders ad|usted to different school leveis of the studente, using SPSS. Results Our results present higher (p<0,05| nutritional scores for"girls (67,11 than boys (63,6 scorel. Opposed to these results boys los expectedl significantly present higher amounts of moderate to vigorous PA compared to girls 171,6 min. /day vs 42,3 min. /day; p<0, 01|. Additionally, we have 14,7% overweight/obese girls and 17,4% overweight/obese boys. Discussion Other studies have obsen/ed similar results regarding MVPA in boys and girls, but the NK about diet and nutritïon is also crucial for the treatment ond prevention of obesity in chiidren. Therefore ifs important to understand if higher scores in NK would lead to better nutritional practices; would it be possible that inaeasing studenfs NK about food contents regarding different nutrients could improve their daily practices. Do children and adolescents that have better NK behave differently regarding PA practices?

Abstract
This research proposes a networked e-consumer profile based on consumers' characteristics and behavior: online shopping experience, Internet and social networks use, search behavior, recommendation behavior and demographics. Survey data from 308 participants who purchased from a leading online retailer and engaged in peer communications through online social networks were used in order to profile the networked e-consumer. The study empirically verifies that the typical networked e-consumer tends to be younger, highly educated which are in the highest occupation levels, e-experienced, skillful, give product and site recommendations to their connections and actively participate in several online social networks. Most of the results and conclusions are consistent with other antecedent research and provide useful orientations to guide e-business managers on actions they can take. Finally, some strategic recommendations and suggestions for further investigation are presented.
