Description

Biosensor Development for Wine Traceability in the Douro Region

WineBioCode was a project in the field of food authenticity and its main aim was to develop a set of tools in order to identify and quantify grape varieties using DNA markers. The main project results were the optimization of the DNA extraction methods from must and wine; the identification of specific SNP DNA markers, in particular from the 22 Vitis vinifera varieties (red and white) used in the Douro region, and the development of a biosensor system (TRL 4) based on optical fiber technology to identify these DNA markers in real samples.
