Cavity Ring Down device for remote sensing

CRD Sensing technology is an innovative optical configuration capable of outputting and reading signals from a network of sensors positioned at remote locations for sensing physical, chemical or biological parameters. By being simple, compact and presenting low signal loss, CRD Sensing enables the development of new products and services in areas such as telecommunications (fiber optics), agriculture, marine applications and environmental resources monitoring, especially in remote locations (e.g., deep water). Thus, this technology has 4 main application industries aligned with 4 priority themes and respective topics of the National Strategy for Intelligent Specialization (ENEI), as well as with 3 priority areas and respective topic the North Intelligent Specialization Strategy (RIS3). Due to its characteristics, CRD Sensing is particularly well positioned to be marketed as an add-on or to natively integrate in Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) devices, currently in use by fiber optic network service providers. That is a worldwide market that grew 13.8% in the period 2013-2018 and in which the main agents make use of patents to protect their technologies. This project aims at funding an international patent application (PCT) and its respective national validations in the major world markets in order to enhance the economic return and impact on society of the CRD Sensing technology.Project datasheet
