Dr. Sooraj acting as an External Collaborator at the INESC TEC/Department of Physics, University of Porto, Portugal. Currently, Dr. Sooraj employed at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom as a Senior Experience Researcher (2017) under the Marie SkÅ?odowska-Curie Fellowship. Earlier,  Dr. Sooraj worked as a Project Manager under Marie SkÅ?odowska-Curie, (Research and Innovation Staff Exchange) project (2015-2016) in the same university. His important contribution is to develop some innovative advanced glasses and composite materials for antimicrobial, biomechanical, bone regenerative, luminescence and energy applications. I worked on luminescence and time-resolved emission spectroscopy studies of different lanthanide host glasses along with 3D printing technology for next generation of biomaterials.  I am very active and independent member of the biomaterials research community proved by his track record, editorial activities and leadership in the EU cost actions. The Portuguese Ministry of Science & Technology (FCT) awarded one major national wide project, and two bilateral joint collaborative projects with the Ministry of Science & Tech., India. I  also completed several industrial consultancy projects.  I supervised several masters, project fellows and postdoc. Dr. Sooraj edited 8 books to his credit and so far, I published 64 research paper and 8 book chapters with a total number of citations  945, h-index 19 (Google scholar database). Dr. Sooraj is one of the core group members of Technologies for Optofluidic Devices and working group leader for materials (soft, bio & nano) in the EU Cost Action MP1205 and participated in 8 EU Cost Action Meetings (Belgium, Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Spain). Dr Sooraj has also been an external examiner for several Ph.D. theses in Portugal and abroad and has reviewed several research proposals and CRC press book. Dr. Sooraj is acting as an Editor in Chief of the Journal of Biomimetics, Biomaterials, and Biomedical Engineering - JBBBE, Switzerland. I have significant experience in working with different reputable international laboratories & participating in the European Project POLARIS funded by FP7 at 3B’s (Biomaterials, Biodegradable, and Biomimetics) research group in the headquarters of the European Institute of Excellence on Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (2014-2015), University of Minho, Portugal. I graduated in MSc in Physics (1995), M.Tech in Energy, (1997), and Doctorate in Physics (Ph.D., 2002) from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, India. In the period (2002-2008), I worked as a postdoc fellow at the Institute de Engenhaira Biomedica (INEB), Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), and then  I employed (2008-2013) by INESC TEC/Department of Physics, University of Porto, Portugal. Dr. Sooraj also gains industrial experience with Biosckin S.A. Portugal. And fellow of International  Congress of Chemistry and Environment-FICCE, 2001.
