Brissa Acevedo is a doctoral researcher in the dual degree Carnegie Mellon Portugal Program in Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University and the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Advised by Dr. Baruch Fischhoff and Dr. Lia Patrício, Brissa's research examines community perceptions of justice in the context of energy transitions, with a particular focus on how various justice dimensions manifest in engagement initiatives. Through this research, she aims to advance equity considerations in large infrastructure development and inform more inclusive approaches to energy policy.
