Physical Engineering

Work description

The work aims at the development of integrated optical devices for sensing, fabricated by femtosecond laser direct writing. The fabrication process involves the direct writing of waveguides in different types of glasses or crystals, and its optimization to achieve waveguides with low propagation/coupling losses. The process may also include the machining of glass substrates by three-dimensional micromachining through aqueous chemical etching (FLICE – Femtosecond Laser Induced Chemical Etching) for fluid manipulation.
