Project will develop an information platform to support the forest economy

The FLOREST@ project will enable the development of a collaborative information infrastructure that enables the collection and organisation of data to generate indicators and risk models. The objective is to provide a set of data to support political and technical decision-making processes, while contributing to forest planning and management activities.

Researchers develop platform that provides interactive resources to support science education

Infographics, games, music or videos are some examples of the educational resources available on the platform Photodentro PAFSE, which aims to support learning in STEM – science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Developed as part of the PAFSE – Partnerships for Science Education project, this repository was one of the results presented by the consortium during the first edition of the “ New European Bauhaus” (NEB) festival, promoted by the European Commission in June (Brussels).

INESC TEC supports the data management of a company part of Banco Carregosa

This month, INESC TEC concluded a project in the field of Information Systems for Coollink, a company part of Banco Carregosa, aimed at the development of applications to support the activity of financial institutions. Among the main results of this project, we’d like to highlight the structuring and creation of a data dictionary to support the data management of the CoolBiz solution, a platform that includes the management of financial products, customers, risk and reporting for regulatory entities.

INESC TEC carried out scientific monitoring of the seismic-volcanic activity on the Azores

INESC TEC travelled to the island of São Jorge (Azores), to join the scientific community in monitoring the current seismic-volcanic activity. During the visit, the researchers sought information that could increase confidence in potential scenarios and provide data to the local authorities in charge of risk management and civil protection. The main parameters being monitored are radon gas concentration and gamma radiation on the island.

INESC TEC part of project to help winegrowers manage the impact of climate change

The INFRAVINI project created a thematic Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) to support the management of climate change in vineyards, currently one of the biggest challenges in the sector. This tool integrates data from sensors in the Douro Region and is publicly available for use by local winegrowers, resulting from a collaboration between INESC TEC, GEODOURO, the Association for the Development of Viticulture in the Douro Region (ADVID)  and the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD).

According to forecasts by Olivum – Associação de Olivicultores e Lagares do Sul, it is estimated that, in the next 10 years, Portugal will be the third largest producer of olive oil in the world and the seventh country with the largest area of olive groves.

INESC TEC part of European public-private partnership to accelerate the development and production of vaccines

The Innovative Medicines Initiative 2 (IMI2) mobilised more than €33M to support Inno4vac, an innovative public-private partnership to accelerate vaccine R&D timelines. This initiative will focus on the design and application of innovative and highly advanced predictive models to speed up the development and production of new vaccines. INESC TEC’s Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) and the NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA represent Portugal in this project.
