During the last ten years, INESC TEC had a strong focus on the development of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and mobile manipulators to be applied in industry. These robotics systems present high flexibility and are particularly adapted to the needs of existing production systems, where layout reconfigurations are complicated. The application of such systems goes from internal logistics and assembly operations to novel applications such as on-site construction. This research line was developed with extensive experience, both in national and international collaborations, in the context of Portuguese and European projects with reference end-users such as PSA - Peugeot Citroen, Renault, GALP or Thales-Alenia Aerospace.
iiLab offers consultancy services for the installation of existing and mature robotic systems, also being capable of developing novel robotics systems for high flexible logistics and assembly operations, machine tending and others. iiLab developed a well-proven network of competences, both at INESC TEC and with external companies that provide the team with the capabilities to provide complete mobile robotic systems that vertically integrate into the production environment.
