José Pedro Silva is an engineer with an Integrated Master’s degree in Industrial Electronics and Computer Engineering from the University of Minho (2020). He began his career in the electric mobility sector, focusing on the development of electric vehicle chargers. During this time, he gained hands-on experience in hardware and firmware, as well as in-depth knowledge of industry standards and protocols, including IEC 61851, ISO 15118, and OCPP, and in performing compliance testing to ensure systems meet technical and safety requirements.
Since February 2024, he has been part of INESC TEC, working at the x-Energy laboratory on technologies for EV charging systems and low-voltage DC microgrids. His work has contributed to several European and national projects, including ATE, POCITYF, and GreenDataAI, combining experience in development, standards, and system validation, while also providing support for industry services in the laboratory.
