Energy Systems - Power Electronics and Grid Flexibility for the Energy Transition

Work description

Coordination and execution of R&D and knowledge enhancement projects, preparation of R&D project applications, team management and mentoring of junior researchers, scientific production aimed at international journals and conferences, involvement in the scientific and professional communities, as well as coordination and participation in scientific and technological outreach initiatives, particularly in the areas of electrical power systems, integration of ultra-fast electric vehicle charging into distribution networks, development of hardware and software solutions for system services provided by charging infrastructures, Power Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) test platforms and digital twins of electrical systems, development and control of power electronic converters for integration of PEM electrolyzers, participation of energy resources in frequency control services (FCR and aFRR), stability studies of power networks with high penetration of renewable energies and green hydrogen production, and related areas.

Academic Qualifications

PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems

Minimum profile required

Ph.D. holders with limited postdoctoral research experience or no scientific record following their Ph.D. in the scientific field for which they are applying, who are eligible for the junior researcher category.A minimum of two publications in Q1-ranked international journals.

Preference factors

Quality, relevance, and impact of the candidate's scientific and technological output, including publications in international journals and conferences; Participation and contribution in applied research projects, technological development, demonstration, experimental validation, or collaboration with business and institutional entities; Use of tools and methodologies relevant to the energy sector, such as mathematical optimization, programming.
