Work description

The candidate will become part of the research and development team of Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles Laboratory at INESC TEC. Specifically, the desired qualities in the candidate include availability and motivation for coordinating and conducting R&D projects and knowledge enhancement, preparation of R&D project applications, team management and guidance for junior researchers. Additionally, the contracted person is expected to have availability and initiative in producing scientific content geared towards international journals and conferences, engagement in scientific and professional communities, as well as coordination and participation in scientific and technological dissemination initiatives, particularly in the field of Power Electrical Engineering or related areas. In the technical domain, it is expected from the candidate ability and motivation in the field of designing and specifying power conversion systems and electric vehicle chargers, with a particular focus on the study and implementation of hybrid AC/DC networks and development of energy conversion systems for green hydrogen production. The contracted individual is also expected to perform tasks related to building computational simulation models of components/assets referred to as "Digital Twins," as well as applying artificial intelligence algorithms to optimize the operation and maintenance of renewable energy-based power generation facilities. In the context of the aforementioned responsibilities, the contracted person is also expected to have the capacity and motivation for the production, testing, validation, and demonstration of technological solutions developed for various projects.

Minimum profile required

PhD degree with postdoctoral experience or scientific curriculum compatible with the category of the scientific research career to which the remuneration level defined below corresponds.

Preference factors

Participation, including eventually positions of responsibility, in research and development projects involving the design, specification and implementation of power electronics systems (e.g. inverters, electric vehicle chargers, etc.), simulation experience (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink or Modelica), programming of real-time controllers for power conversion systems (e.g. Texas Instruments C2000) and experience in the implementation and development of MODBUS (TCP/RTU), CAN, REST, etc. communications. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
