Work description

In the context of INESC TEC Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles Laboratory, coordination and implementation of R&D projects and knowledge enhancement, preparation of R&D project applications, team management and guidance of junior researchers, scientific production oriented to international journals and conferences, intervention in the scientific and professional communities, as well as coordination and participation in initiatives of scientific and technological dissemination, particularly in the area of Power Electronics or related. Design and specification of power conversion systems and electric vehicle chargers, considering hybrid AC/DC networks and green hydrogen production. Construction of digital twins of components/assets, and application of artificial intelligence algorithms to optimize the operation and maintenance of facilities with renewable-based electricity generation. The work will also include production, testing, validation, and demonstration of technological solutions developed for different projects.

Minimum profile required

PhD degree with postdoctoral experience or scientific curriculum compatible with the category of the scientific research career to which the remuneration level defined below corresponds.

Preference factors

Participation, including eventually positions of responsibility, in research and development projects involving the design, specification and implementation of power electronics systems (e.g. inverters, electric vehicle chargers, etc.), simulation experience (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink or Modelica), programming of real-time controllers for power conversion systems (e.g. Texas Instruments C2000) and experience in the implementation and development of MODBUS (TCP/RTU), CAN, REST, etc. communications. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
