Work description

- Design of a control system that enforces QoS policies for energy consumption over large-scale infrastructures. - Implementation of an experimental prototype and comprehensive evaluation in real scenarios (e.g., supercomputers). The tasks described in this working plan demand the application and development of concepts and techniques in the area of Software Engineering which are usually introduced in curricular units included in the curricula of the Mestrados Integrados em Engenharia Informática or Mestrado em Engenharia Informática studies.

Academic Qualifications

BSc Degree in Informatics Engineering.

Minimum profile required

- Experience with software-defined control systems (e.g., Cheferd, PAIO, PADLL).- Proven experience in the design and implementation of energy control mechanisms, namely phase-based approaches, for the training of AI models, supported by technical evidence (e.g., code repositories, projects, or functional prototypes).- Solid knowledge of operating systems.- Solid knowledge of distributed systems

Preference factors

- Experience with power capping mechanisms. - Experience on the design and development of energy monitoring frameworks, and on measuring the energy impact incurred over different computational resources. - Experience with the C/C++ programming language.

Application Period
