Design and evaluation of production systems for remanufacturing

Work description

• Implementation, configuration and validation of original tools for evaluating production systems oriented towards remanufacturing; • Testing and validation of tools and platforms for evaluating production systems in the context of remanufacturing testbeds and industrial pilot projects; • Development and evaluation of improvements at product, process and production system levels in the context of remanufacturing, using discrete-event modelling and simulation tools, as well as, where applicable, integration with Digital Twins, physical/robotic simulation, Artificial Intelligence techniques and Reinforcement Learning; • Analysis and interpretation of experimental results, including the evaluation of the performance of the solutions developed in different operating scenarios; • Preparation of technical and scientific documentation, including project reports, scientific publications and dissemination materials.

Academic Qualifications

Master’s degree in systems engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.

Minimum profile required

- Master’s degree average above 16;- fluency in Portuguese, both spoken and written;

Preference factors

- knowledge of complex production systems - knowledge and previous experience in discrete production modelling and simulation - knowledge and previous experience in physical/robotics modelling and simulation - knowledge of the circular economy - knowledge and previous experience in the field of remanufacturing - basic knowledge of digital twins for complex production systems.
