Data Science for industrial engineering

[Closed]

Work description

These activities will be developed within the scientific field of Industrial Engineering and Management, specifically in the sub-area of Statistics and Data Science. The work will focus on developing comprehensive analytical methods tailored to the specific requirements of different processes, industries, and services. The assistant researcher will be responsible for designing comprehensive analytical methods suited to the specific needs of process and environmental contexts. This includes identifying relationships between process variables and performance metrics (e.g., product quality, equipment and machine data, production rate, customer satisfaction and retention, among others) to enable real-time optimization. Additionally, the researcher will focus on promoting the integration of data science methods into Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Service Management Systems (SMS), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. This integration aims to enhance existing digital architectures, making the data collection process more robust and secure, and developing real-time data processing capabilities that support adaptive planning, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives across various contexts. The position of Assistant Researcher in Data Science for Industrial Engineering is critical for advancing the understanding and application of data-driven approaches in industrial engineering environments. This role is essential for the Industrial and Systems Engineering Domain at INESC TEC to maintain its status as a leading international authority in industrial engineering, capable of integrating cutting-edge technologies such as data science into its research activities. The position will not only contribute to the body of knowledge within the institution but will also empower other researchers with the skills necessary for the Industry 4.0 era.
