Work description
We are looking for a highly motivated Master to join the team of researchers of the StorySense project and to do a PhD that will extend beyond the end of the project. The topic is Extraction of Narratives from text. The selected candidate will work with INESC TEC's Machine Learning and NLP / NLP team and will have the opportunity to work in a dedicated and young environment, in close interaction with researchers, doctoral and post-doctoral students working on varied Machine Learning topics, information extraction and computer science. The candidate must be motivated to collaborate on other projects on time.
Academic Qualifications
MSc in Computer Science, Data Sciente or equivalent with a strong focus on NLP.
Minimum profile required
- Motivation to work with NLP algorithms & tools;- Determination to get a PhD degree;- Theoretical background and experience on NLP and Machine Learning, particularly on Narrative Extraction;- Good communication skills & ability to cooperate within a team;- Knowledge of programming languages(Python/R);- Knowledge of Python and development tools (e.g. GIT);- In conditions to start in july 2023 (including degree recognition and visa procedures);- First degree score of 15/20 minimum.
Preference factors
Being able to use Portuguese as a language of study is important; Strong publications in NLP.
