In a sector like agro-food, where energy consumption is often high, digital transformation allows for real-time monitoring and control of resource use, while supporting data-driven decision-making.This is where INESC TEC comes in. Sustainable deliveries: researchers aim to support retailers in addressing environmental impact of online shopping

Online shopping and just-in-time delivery – or almost. We became familiarised with this scenario over the past few years, mainly because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The environmental impact of new retail strategies is not yet fully known, particularly regarding new business models and consumption habits, associated with e-commerce; this was the starting point of the e-LOG project, led by INESC TEC, which has now come to an end.

Researchers support the manufacturing industry by anticipating disruptions in supply chains

Over the next three years, a group of European researchers, including a team from INESC TEC, will work on the development of management models to support the manufacturing industry – namely small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); the goal is to identify potential disruptions in current and future supply chains. This work will take place within the European RISE-SME project, focusing on four industrial ecosystems: Agro-food, Digital, Mobility and Transportation, and Textile.

INESC TEC develops strategic and technological plan for the Advanced Production Systems sector in the Entre Douro and Vouga region

On May 9, INESC TEC presented the i4.0 strategic and technological plan for the Advanced Production Systems (SAP) sector in the Entre Douro and Vouga region, developed within the scope of the SAP 4.0 project; the event took place at the SIMOLDES group test centre, in Oliveira de Azeméis. The session also featured the presentation of a success case within the scope of digitalisation, promoted by the company SIMOLDES PLÁSTICOS S.A.

INESC TEC researcher selected for internship at MIT

Henrique Diogo Silva, researcher at INESC TEC and PhD student at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), is one of the winners of this year’s edition of the R&D@USA grant programme, promoted by the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) and the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Those selected have the possibility to carry out a research internship in the United States of America.
