The projects VR2Market and MarinEye received two honourable mentions in the Innovation and Sustainability category of the “The Best of the Technological Portugal” prize, awarded by the Portuguese magazine “Exame Informática”.

INESC TEC's Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP) organised the third conference days on Engineering Physics and Astronomy in collaboration with the Physics and Astronomy Department (DFA) of the University of Porto (FCUP), which took place on 18 May at FCUP. The journal Optics Communications has acknowledged José Manuel Almeida, researcher at INESC TEC’s Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP), for his “exceptional contribution” in the revision of papers, which has contributed to the “quality of the journal”.

INESC TEC researcher is Best Reviewer in international journal

Paulo Caldas, researcher at INESC TEC’s Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP) and assistant professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana (IPVC), was named Best Reviewer 2015 of the Journal of Optics & Laser Technology, published by Elsevier, for his “excellent work, quality and objectivity in the revision of papers.”

INESC TEC in another mining project

Portugal will be participating in a European project where the goal is to explore, using robots, mines that have been closed and are partially underwater. The project will provide five million euros to build the first robots in the world capable of operating underground, autonomously and remotely. The submersible system will be tested in Portugal, Finland, Slovenia and the United Kingdom.
