STRONGMAR Winter School

Project STRONGMAR, which started on the early 2016, had now its second edition of the Winter School programme, called Winter School on Underwater Sensing Science.

24th April 2017

The initiative happened between 20 and 24 March in Aberdeen, Scotland, where one of the partners is located, the Aberdeen University. The almost 20 participants are students and researchers from CAP – the Centre for Applied Photonics, CRAS – the Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems, and CSIG – the Centre for Information Systems and Computer Graphics.

The program was based on a several topic approach, namely holography, Raman spectroscopy, LIBS and acoustic image, including activities such as theme lectures, demonstrations, visits to laboratories and companies and social nature events.

Project STRONGMAR is led by INESC TEC, its purpose is to capacitate researchers in areas such as science and technology of the sea, and it counts on the collaboration of high-end foreigner partners, responding to the challenges imposed by the maritime influence that characterizes Portugal.

Besides Winter Schools, until the end of 2018, there will be Summer Schools, meetings, visits and theme workshops, networking meetings, scientific conferences, amongst other activities.

Project STRONGMAR is funded by the European programme H2020.
