New project intends to identify faults in power distribution systems

The technical kick-off meeting of the project “F-LOCO – Fault Location Optimization” was held on 17 December 2018.

20th March 2019

The goal of the project is to develop a system capable of finding transitional or permanent faults in aerial power distribution systems. The system will be able to be installed without smart grid interruptions in the 15 kV and 34 kV operating voltages and will also be part of the most recent IoT technologies.

In partnership with INESC P&D Brasil, researchers from several public Brazilian universities take action in the research development, namely from the Federal University of ABC (UFABC), Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and Federal University of Technology of Paraná (UTFPR).

The project is funded by Energisa S.A., within the Research and Development environment of the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). The execution is carried out by INESC P&D Brasil, alongside the technology-based partner Hart BR, specialised in the development of solutions for the energy, telecommunications and industry segments.
