INESC TEC’s researcher is the associate editor in journal on oceanic engineering

The researcher and research coordinator from INESC TEC’s Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS), Nuno Cruz was appointed as the associate editor of the Journal of Oceanic Engineering (JOE) of the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES) whose responsibility is to coordinate the publications of papers related to underwater robots and navigation and adaptive sampling.

22nd June 2018

Since 2009, the researcher is developing at INESC TEC his work on underwater robotics with particular attention to the strategies developed in order to use AUV efficiently and including the concept of adaptive sampling.

Nuno Cruz completed his Master’s Degree in Digital Systems Engineering at the University of Manchester - Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in the United Kingdom and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto where he is currently an assistant professor. Nuno Cruz has been involved in the development and operation of marine robotic vehicles for about 20 years and he has more than 100 international publications.

JOE is a quarterly publication and one of the most important in the fields of oceanic research, development and oceanic operations. It is the responsibility of IEEE/OES, a society that promotes cooperation and exchange of technical information among its members through publications and meetings, this includes the creation of new capabilities and technologies from concept design through prototypes, testing, and operational systems to explore, sense, understand, develop, use, and responsibly manage natural resources.
