INESC TEC welcomes representative of the National Institute of Informatics in Japan

On 13 February, INESC TEC welcomed the director for international relations of the National Institute of Informatics (NII), Henri Angelino. The goal was to establish possible cooperation agreements with the Japanese institute.

Henri Angelino met with members of the Board and several Units at INESC TEC, where he did a general presentation of the different research activities conducted at NII’s various divisions and centres. Furthermore, he presented the Japanese institution’s policy for international cooperation, and several scenarios for the exchange of students, professors and other activities were discussed.

The representative of the NII also got to know the activities conducted at the Portuguese institute as he had the opportunity to visit the facilities of INESC TEC’s High Assurance Software Laboratory (HASLab) in the city of Braga, the Laboratories of the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Unit (ROBIS) at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and at the Higher Engineering Institute in Porto (ISEP), and finally the Laboratory of Microgrids and Electric Vehicles of the Power Systems Unit (USE).

During the visit of the director for international relations, the participants discussed the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement between INESC TEC and NII in the areas of Information Technologies and Robotics, and of promoting a joint project in Software Engineering.

Located in Tokyo, the NII is the only academic research institute for the area of Informatics in Japan. The institution is also dedicated to creating a system that makes it easier to disseminate scientific information to the general public.
