INESC TEC researchers distinguished in the book “Women in Science”

Ana Pires and Carla Carmelo Rosa were the two INESC TEC researchers distinguished by Ciência Viva – Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica under the initiative “Women in Science”.

08th April 2019

The two researchers, collaborators of the Centre for Robotics and Autonomous Systems (CRAS) and the Centre for Applied Photonics (CAP), respectively, were part of the group of 137 Portuguese scientists that was selected for this tribute due to their contribution in rooting science in the Portuguese society.

“Women in Science” is the title of the initiative that intends to give visibility to Portuguese female scientists, in a recognition that also gave rise to the launch of a book with the same name. This book gathers the portraits of the researchers. There is also a digital version that is available in a permanent exhibition at the Pavilion of Knowledge.

The ceremony, which took place at the Pavilion of Knowledge in Lisbon on 8 March under the celebration of the International Women’s Day, was attended by Manuel Heitor, Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education and by Rosalia Vargas, President of Ciência Viva.

The researchers mentioned in this news piece are associated with P.Porto-ISEP and UP-FCUP.
