Announcement: Professor Gary Chapman of UT-Austin has died

We regret to announce that Gary Chapman, Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, has passed away on Tuesday, 14 December 2010. He was a great promoter of the Internet as a tool to support the inclusion of communities by providing them with the ability to participate in the promotion of social, political and economic development.

15th December 2010

Professor Gary Chapman was the director of The 21st Century Project at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, a public policy postgraduate school of UT-Austin. He was also the associate director of the Telecommunications and Information Policy Institute of that same university.

Professor Gary Chapman was very fond of our country and the city of Porto in particular, where he designed an advanced training project, which took place at the University of Porto (U.Porto) over the past two years: ISDT – International School of Digital Transformation.

U.Porto and INESC Porto, as well as all the friends that Gary Chapman has made here, express their deepest sympathy and condolences to his family.
